Kyle and Keela are going to help us understand how to conduct a financial audit using the blockchain. They will also review asset classification, valuation, staking, and NFTs. They will keep the discussion at an approachable level for beginners and those that are familiar with crypto and blockchain but haven't gone in depth.

In this session, Kyle and Keela will walk us through the following learning points:

Assess the unique risks presented in independent assessment of crypto firms including the role of risk assessment and compliance testing in an audit
Understand how conducting an audit of a crypto firm is similar/different from a traditional financial audit
Understand the unique challenges in digital asset valuation for cryptocurrencies, staked coins, and NFTs
Understand the role of smart contracts in conducting a financial audit

Souzan Esmaili

Founder of TCAE

A scientist and engineer by training, Keela thrives on strategic and analytic challenges. She is passionate about transforming businesses and achieving big outcomes by leveraging technology. Prior to co-founding Decise, Keela was the head of Research & Innovation for Mercy Health and a principal management consultant where she formed and led the M&A Practice for World Wide Technology. Keela is highly experienced in working with global financial institutions and is trained in internal audit, IT compliance and IT controls. Her enthusiasm for blockchain technologies is contagious. After building her own blockchain and coin, she continues to tinker in exploration of threats and new innovations.

Keela is a Certified Blockchain Expert and Certified Blockchain Security Professional

Souzan has over 16 years of international experience in consultancy and training with a focus on Regulatory Compliance, Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Bribery and Corruption, and RegTech. She worked for various financial institutions and consultancies in Dubai and Toronto.

In 2019, when Souzan moved to Canada, she created TCAE with a passion to help, educate and empower Compliance & AML professionals around the world. She gained her first Canadian job experience by working as a subject matter expert on the Anti Bribery & Corruption Program for Wells Fargo’s Canada and Latin America regions. In March 2020, Souzan launched The Knowledge Series where she brings international industry experts and thought leaders to share their knowledge and experience with the AML and Compliance professionals around the world. As TCAE was expanding, Souzan decided to leave Banking in 2021 and enter the entrepreneurship world.

Prior to moving to Canada in 2019, Souzan worked for various financial institutions and consultancies where she assisted her clients to understand their compliance needs, advised on meeting regulatory requirements, and managed a multitude of remediation projects. She has acted as an Authorized Individual in the capacity of Compliance Officer and MLRO for a number of firms regulated by the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA).
Souzan holds an MBA from the American University of Sharjah (UAE), a Post Graduate Diploma in GRC from Manchester Business School (UK), a Certified Anti Money Launder Specialist (CAMS), a FinTech Program certificate from Oxford University, and a Chainalysis Cryptocurrency Fundamentals Certification (CCFC).
